Du Tonc – a Nu-Disco delicacy!
It really does feel weird starting this post by saying: And AGAIN this next act is coming from the Land Down Under. If right now Australia was to sell all their musical talents their GDP would go sky-high. However, this statement does only partially apply for Du Tonc. Does the guy on the picture look any familiar to you? Yes, that’s no less than Matt Van Schie, the bassist of Van She and official Aussie of Du Tonc.
The second part of the band goes by the name of Mighty Mouse, a producer from London and coincidentally the name behind the following acts: Tears For Fears, The Eels, Prince, David Bowie, Nile Rodgers, Chic, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Queen, Mercury Rev – boooooom!
Having said that we’re clearly not talking about some other Nu-Disco act anymore. Right now Du Tonc might still be an insiders’ tip, frankly, I’m not sure how much longer this will last. Yet, the young project reveal only little information about themselves. My personal favourite of all their -rather taut- statements: “We make tunes and we’re going to make lot’s more” (well thank you for that).
Let’s clear things up, the beats of Du Tonc promise a multifarious collaboration which definitely is going to provide a lot more of this -highly delicate- type of Nu-Disco! But feel free to convince yourself:
