Gold Panda – pretty “melodic” Minimal

It’s always rumoured that if you’re abroad for longer time you start to adjust to the respective culture. Well after listening to Gold Panda I think we can answer this question with a big fat YES. Derwin Schlecker, originally born in Peckham UK, lived in Japan and graduated in Oriental and African Studies before eventually starting to do music.

His tunes can be described as kind of Minimal despite the heavy influence of oriental sounds which gives Gold Panda as an artist this extremely high recognition value. Like other talented music producer David remixed tracks of various artists such as Little Boots, Telepathe, Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco and many more personally however I like his own tunes way better. His EP “Lucky Shiner” released in 2010 contains tracks which are not to be missed in any Minimal-Junkie’s music library.

The Insider: This time the insider is a side promotion for the “All Saints Basement Sessions” in which Gold Panda also performed. If you stop by at YouTube check if your favourite band has been there too – the live or even unplugged sessions are else very hard to be found on the web in such high quality!

Sounds like: Nosaj Thing, Mount Kimbie, Four Tet, Bibio, Baths, Flying Lotus
