Strange Talk – Melbournish Electropop

Another great Australian export, founded in 2010 their first EP followed one year later. Within very short time Strange Talk has managed to reach No1 of the Australian Billboard Charts; especially their videos on YouTube have been heavily consumed.

The style of the band is said to be close to Passion Pit, Yeasayer or Phoenix though I personally think that their sounds are very distinct because of the spacy keyboard melodies and the voice of leadsinger Stephen Docker. All in all you can say that Strange Talk stands for very catchy sing-along tunes following the electro-pop pattern refined with a good portion of quirky 80ies beats and funky synths.

Strange Talk’s first album is going to be released in early 2013. “Cast Away”, the first single of the upcoming album, serves as a little appetizer on a hopefully solid album featuring some more high-quality Aussie electro! Beside of “Cast Aways” I recommend to listen to some remixes of the band or covers the four guys have worked on such as the excellent copy of the Police’s “Roxanne”.

The Insider: The 2011 released “Climbing Walls” was the first music video ever to give away prices for the audience watching it. By simply clicking at the clothes worn by the dancer in the videos fans could acquire live-pieces from the set itself.

Sounds like: Foster the People, Passion Pit, the Temper Trap, Black Kids, Two Door Cinema Club, Ladyhawke
